As technology advances, more homes and businesses want fiber optic services. These networks offer numerous benefits, including faster data transmission and more bandwidth for an increasing number of connected devices.
Service providers need a way to meet the rising demand while protecting sensitive infrastructure from weather and security threats. Fiber distribution hubs are the solution.
A fiber distribution hub (FDH) is a secured cabinet that houses the juncture between a network's optical splitters and it's cables in the outside plant part of the network. Feeder cables meet inside with splitters that distribute the signal to the homes and businesses using the provider's fiber optic network.
Before current technology, connectivity enclosures were often bulky metal cabinets with limited subscriber capacity. Today's FDH solutions support far more users in the same footprint, allowing network providers to maximize their space use.
Other benefits include:
Typical applications for FDH cabinets include:
We offer two primary styles of FDH cabinets — our customizable 19-inch rack rail and the innovative Splice Hub™.
Our 19-inch rack rail cabinets provide the functionality you expect with a cost-effective, improved design compared to some other models on the market. Each features a standard design built to hold 19-inch rack-mounted equipment. Multilink can tailor the configuration based on your network needs for maximum flexibility and value.
Splice Hub cabinets represent our most full-featured fiber distribution hub design to date.
Each boasts compatibility with plug-and-play style CT-X cassettes for easy deployment. These offer scalability, so you can add as your network expands. Our cassettes can house up to 24 LC Duplex or 12 SC Simplex connectors and numerous splitters based on fiber-count size.
A dual-door design and re-enterable bottom gives your techs maximum cable access at feeder and distribution points. That advantage promotes higher efficiency, allowing multiple techs simultaneous access for faster testing, maintenance and repair.
Inside, you'll find convenience with ears designed to simplify slack storage. These features help keep the slack cable organized and tidy. They easily move along the cabinet's rails for precise positioning where you need it. Our engineers have also integrated a “parking lot” for disconnected cables. Your techs simply plug them into this area for storage until reconnection occurs. A built-in grounding bar helps safeguard against accidental shocks and severe weather events that could damage the investment you've made.
Our complete lineup of Splice Hub cabinets is available in multiple sizes. For added convenience, you can also purchase companion accessories like CT-X cassettes and splice trays.
We boast a highly skilled engineering team capable of helping you bring customized FDH visions to life for unique needs. We also provide end-to-end support with installation and construction guidance, preventive maintenance and repair services, and a large parts inventory to keep your equipment in peak condition.
The Multilink team prides itself on a legacy of innovation and industry leadership dating back to 1983. We produce our fiber distribution hubs under strict quality control in our ISO 9001-certified facility to ensure durability and performance.
